Classic hot rod cars are an automotive icon for the United States. From the 1930s to 1950s, hot rods were considered as a symbol of rebellion that represented the counterculture movement. These hot rods were often used in street races and other illegal racing events.

Muscle cars, on the other hand, are considered as an American cultural icon. Muscle cars are muscle-powered versions of regular automobiles with larger engines and suspensions to perform well on American highways.

1965 Ford Mustang

The car is known for its sleek body style and its high-performance engine. It is often called “America’s first sports car.” It was available in several models, including a fastback and convertible.

The 1965 Ford Mustang was the first generation of this iconic American muscle car. The Mustang evolved from the sucessful 1964 model, which had been introduced as a response to the new compact cars that were popular at that time (Ford).

This new sucessful vehicle brought back an old name that had been used on the very first Ford model in 1948. It also marked Ford's third successful attempt to beat General Motors' Chevrolet Corvette in drag racing after two failures with their Thunderbird and Falcon models.

The design of this generation of Mustang was a collaborative effort by a team of designers and engineers. All were responsible for making decisions during the process, from the exterior to the interior. The Mustang team wanted to "create a modern muscle car with timeless style—one that would set it apart from competitors."

1967 Chevy Camaro

The first-generation Chevrolet Camaro was designed as a pony car, an American term for compact with "a long hood and short deck with four seats" that is capable of higher speeds than regular sedans.

The first generation of the Chevrolet Camaro was introduced in the fall of 1966 for 1967 model year production. The 1967 model year introduction consisted of three models: an I6 series 150, an I6 series 250, and a V8 series 350.

The first generation of the Chevrolet Camaro was introduced to compete with Plymouth's Barracuda, Ford Mustang, and Pontiac Firebird, all cars which had similar styling.
